Azkals Receive Boost with Return of Weiss

The Philippine National Football Team, the Azkals, have been given a shot in the arm with the return of their coach, Thomas Dooley. Dooley was appointed as head coach back in 2014 and led the team to two AFF Suzuki Cup semi-finals and a runner-up finish in the 2016 AFC Challenge Cup. He also oversaw the Azkals’ first-ever win over Malaysia in 2017. 

The return of Dooley is seen as a major boost for the team, who have struggled in recent years. The team has failed to qualify for the last two editions of the AFF Suzuki Cup and were knocked out at the group stage of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. With Dooley back at the helm, there is renewed optimism that he can lead them to success. 

Dooley brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge from his time coaching in Europe and Asia. He has worked with some of the biggest clubs in Germany and Japan, and has won several trophies during his career. His tactical acumen and man-management skills are expected to be an invaluable asset for the Azkals as they look to make their mark on the international stage. 

The Azkals will now be looking to build on their strong start to 2021, which saw them beat Indonesia 3-2 in January. With Dooley back at the helm, they will be hoping to take their game to new heights and make a real statement in world football.
