Going for Gold: Gilas Women Prepare for SEA Games

With the upcoming Southeast Asian (SEA) Games just around the corner, the Philippine women’s basketball team, Gilas Pilipinas, is gearing up for a chance at gold. The team has been training hard and working on their skills in preparation for the tournament.

The SEA Games is an international multi-sport event held every two years among 11 countries of Southeast Asia. This year, it will be hosted by the Philippines from November 30 to December 11. It will feature 56 sports with 530 events.

Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball Team was formed in 2017 and is composed of some of the country’s best female players. The team is currently ranked fourth in Southeast Asia, behind Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. They are coached by Patrick Aquino and captained by Jack Animam.

The team has been preparing for the SEA Games since 2018 when they participated in the FIBA 3x3 World Cup in Manila. Since then, they have competed in several tournaments such as the William Jones Cup in Taiwan and the Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers in India.

The team has also had several exhibition games against other teams such as Japan and South Korea. These games have helped them develop their skills and build chemistry between players.

The team has also had several training camps over the past few months to prepare for the SEA Games. These camps have focused on conditioning, strength and agility drills, as well as game strategies and tactics. The team also had a week-long camp in Tagaytay where they played against other local teams to further hone their skills.

The Gilas Pilipinas Women’s Basketball Team is confident that they can bring home a gold medal from this year’s SEA Games. With their determination and hard work, they are sure to make their country proud.
