On Sunday, Novak Djokovic made history by becoming the first male tennis player to win 23 Grand Slam titles. The 33-year-old Serbian superstar defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev 7-5, 6-2, 6-2 in the French Open final to break the previous record of 22 titles held by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic’s victory was met with praise from all corners of the tennis world. Former world number one Andy Murray said that it was “incredible” for Djokovic to reach such an impressive milestone, while current world number one Naomi Osaka described him as “the GOAT” (Greatest Of All Time). Even Federer and Nadal took to social media to congratulate Djokovic on his historic achievement.

This latest success is yet another testament to Djokovic’s incredible talent and determination. He has now won four Grand Slam titles in a row, having also triumphed at the Australian Open, US Open and Wimbledon in 2020. His total tally of 23 major titles puts him ahead of both Federer (20) and Nadal (19) in the all-time standings.

The victory also means that Djokovic has now won at least one Grand Slam title every year since 2011 – an unprecedented feat of consistency in men’s tennis. He is now just two titles away from equaling Margaret Court’s record of 24 major singles titles – the most ever won by any player in the sport’s history.

It was a particularly special moment for Djokovic, who dedicated his win to his wife Jelena and infant son Stefan, saying “I want to thank my family for supporting me through this journey and making it possible for me to be here today."

Novak Djokovic has once again proven himself as one of the greatest tennis players of all time with his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title. His remarkable achievements are sure to inspire future generations of tennis players for years to come.
