Puerto Galera to Remain Open Despite Poor Water Quality

The popular tourist destination of Puerto Galera in the Philippines is set to remain open despite its poor water quality. The announcement was made by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Tuesday, who revealed that they would be taking steps to improve the water quality of the area.

Located in Oriental Mindoro province, Puerto Galera is a popular spot for both local and international tourists due to its stunning beaches and lush forests. However, recent reports have highlighted the poor water quality in the area, with high levels of fecal coliform bacteria found in some areas. This has raised concerns about the safety of swimming and other activities in the area.

Exercise caution

Based on the DENR’s water quality tests, the DOH has warned against the health hazards of water contamination.

In response to this, DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu announced that they would be taking steps to improve the water quality in Puerto Galera. He stated that they would be launching a “massive clean-up campaign” in order to reduce pollution and improve water quality. This would include measures such as installing sewage treatment plants, improving waste management systems, and enforcing stricter regulations on businesses operating in the area.

Cimatu also noted that the government had already taken steps to address the issue of water pollution in Puerto Galera. He mentioned that they had already closed down several establishments which were found to be violating environmental laws, as well as conducting regular monitoring of water quality in the area. He added that these efforts had resulted in a significant improvement in water quality over the past year.

Despite these efforts, Cimatu admitted that there was still much work to be done before Puerto Galera could be considered safe for swimming and other activities. He urged local businesses and residents to do their part in helping to reduce pollution and improve water quality by following proper waste disposal practices and avoiding activities which could contribute to further contamination.

To stay open

Overall, it appears that Puerto Galera will remain open despite its poor water quality, although more needs to be done if it is going to become a safe place for tourists and locals alike. Hopefully, with continued efforts from both the government and local businesses, Puerto Galera can become a cleaner and safer destination for everyone who visits it.
