Iga Swiatek Wins Third Straight Match at French Open

19-year-old Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek is on a winning streak at the French Open, having won her third consecutive match. Read more to find out how she did it.

19-year-old Polish tennis player Iga Swiatek is making waves at the French Open this year, having just won her third consecutive match. On Wednesday, she defeated Italian qualifier Martina Trevisan 6-3, 6-1 in the second round of the tournament. This marks the first time that Swiatek has made it into the third round of a Grand Slam event.

Swiatek was in control throughout the match and never looked back after taking an early lead. She managed to break Trevisan’s serve four times during the match, while only dropping one game on her own serve. After the match, Swiatek said she was pleased with her performance and felt like she had “a lot of energy” throughout the match.

This win comes after two impressive victories for Swiatek in the first round of the tournament. She easily dispatched American Taylor Townsend 6-2, 6-0 in her opening match and followed that up with another straight sets victory over fellow Pole Magda Linette.

Swiatek is now set to face off against either former world number one Karolina Pliskova or 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in the third round. Regardless of who she faces, Swiatek will be looking to continue her winning streak and make history by becoming the first Polish woman to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam event since Agnieszka Radwanska did so at Wimbledon in 2012.
