UFC 288 to Feature Explosive Nunes-Aldana and Oliveira-Dariush Bouts

UFC 288 is set to be an explosive night of fights as two of the most highly anticipated bouts of the year have been announced. On Saturday, March 6th, Amanda Nunes will be taking on Valentina Shevchenko in a rematch of their 2016 fight. This time around, Nunes will be defending her women's bantamweight championship belt. In addition, Charles Oliveira will face off against Beneil Dariush in a lightweight bout. 

Nunes and Shevchenko first met in 2016 at UFC 196 with Nunes winning by unanimous decision. Since then, Nunes has gone on to become one of the most dominant champions in UFC history. She has defended her title five times since then, including a TKO win over Holly Holm at UFC 239 last July. Meanwhile, Shevchenko has been on a tear since her loss to Nunes, winning six straight fights including a TKO victory over Jessica Eye at UFC 238 last June. 

The other matchup features two of the top lightweights in the world. Oliveira is currently ranked fifth in the division while Dariush is ranked sixth. Both fighters are coming off impressive wins; Oliveira defeated Jared Gordon at UFC Fight Night 157 last August while Dariush knocked out Drakkar Klose at UFC 248 last March.
